What is MyRouteOnline and what problem does it solve?

MyRouteOnline is a web-based multi-stop route optimization software designed to help businesses and individuals plan the most efficient driving routes across dozens, or hundreds of addresses. The core problem it solves is one every delivery driver, field sales rep, or service technician faces: Given a list of locations to visit, what is the fastest or shortest order to visit them all? This problem known in mathematics as the Travelling Salesman Problem, is computationally complex when done manually. Even with just 10 stops, the number of possible orderings runs into the millions. MyRouteOnline’s patented algorithm (US Patent #9631938) solves this automatically, typically in seconds, saving businesses significant time and fuel costs every single day. Unlike general-purpose mapping tools like Google Maps, MyRouteOnline is purpose-built for multi-stop optimization. You upload your address list, choose your optimization goal, and get back a fully sequenced, optimized route, ready to navigate, share, or export.

2

How is MyRouteOnline different from just using Google Maps?

Google Maps is an excellent navigation tool for getting from point A to point B, and it allows adding a limited number of stops manually. However, it does not automatically optimize the order of those stops. If you enter 20 addresses into Google Maps, it will route them in the exact order you typed them, not the shortest order. MyRouteOnline is different in several important ways: it automatically reorders your stops to minimize driving time or distance; it accepts address lists via Excel import so you never have to type addresses one by one; it can handle up to 1,000 addresses in a single session; it supports multiple simultaneous routes across multiple drivers; and it exports optimized routes directly to Google Maps, GPS devices, or the MyRoute mobile app for turn-by-turn navigation. It is the planning layer that sits on top of navigation tools like Google Maps, not a replacement for them.

What types of businesses use MyRouteOnline?

MyRouteOnline is used across a wide range of industries where visiting multiple locations per day is part of normal operations. Delivery companies, including e-commerce fulfillment, food delivery, and courier services, use it to plan daily driver schedules and reduce fuel costs. Field sales teams use it to sequence client visits efficiently across a territory, maximizing meetings per day. Service and maintenance businesses such as HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and cleaning companies use it to dispatch technicians efficiently. Healthcare providers and home care agencies use it to route nurses and caregivers. Nonprofits use it for volunteer coordination and food bank deliveries. Even individuals use it for personal errands, road trips, or event planning. If your day involves driving to more than three or four locations, MyRouteOnline can save you meaningful time and money.

4

How does route optimization actually work?

Route optimization is the process of calculating the most efficient sequence and path for visiting a set of geographic locations. MyRouteOnline’s algorithm considers several factors: real-world road distances and travel times (powered by Google Maps data), turn restrictions, traffic patterns, one-way streets, and your chosen optimization goal (fastest, shortest, or balanced). When you submit your address list, the system geocodes each address converting it to a precise latitude/longitude coordinate and then runs an optimization algorithm to find the best possible visiting order. The result is a fully sequenced route with driving directions, estimated arrival times at each stop, and total trip distance and duration. The optimization typically takes a few seconds for small routes and up to a minute for very large ones with hundreds of stops.

5

Can MyRouteOnline plan routes for multiple drivers at the same time?

Yes. MyRouteOnline supports multi-driver route planning, one of its most powerful features for businesses with a fleet. You can upload a single list of addresses, specify how many routes to create and the system will automatically divide and assign the stops across those routes in the most balanced and efficient way. You can set constraints such as maximum route duration or maximum number of stops per driver to ensure workloads are distributed fairly. You can also define territories so that drivers are assigned to the geographic areas closest to them. Once planned, each driver’s route can be emailed to them directly or exported to the MyRoute navigation app on their smartphone, eliminating manual dispatcher work.

6

Does MyRouteOnline work internationally?

Yes. MyRouteOnline works in any country where Google Maps data is available, which covers virtually the entire world. Users plan routes across North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond. The platform supports international address formats and can handle addresses in local scripts and languages. Routes can be displayed and exported with turn-by-turn directions in multiple languages, making MyRouteOnline practical for global businesses as well as travellers planning international road trips.

7

How does MyRouteOnline help delivery businesses save money?

The direct cost savings from route optimization come from three sources: reduced fuel consumption, fewer vehicle miles driven, and lower driver hours per delivery. When a driver visits 30 stops in an unoptimized order, they may drive 20–40% more miles than necessary, criss-crossing a territory, backtracking, or missing obvious geographic clusters of stops. MyRouteOnline eliminates that waste. A delivery business operating five vehicles can easily save hundreds of dollars per month in fuel alone. Add the driver time saved which can translate to handling more deliveries per day with the same headcount and the return on investment becomes compelling very quickly. Many MyRouteOnline customers report recouping their subscription cost within the first week of use.

8

How do field sales representatives use MyRouteOnline?

Sales reps who manage a territory often have a list of prospects, clients, and leads spread across a large geographic area. Planning which clients to visit on which days, in what order, is a logistical challenge that traditionally gets solved with gut instinct, which is rarely optimal. MyRouteOnline lets sales reps upload their entire contact list from a CRM export or Excel spreadsheet and plan their weekly visit schedule efficiently. They can filter by territory, assign clusters of clients to specific days, and generate optimized routes for each day. The result is more client visits per week with less driving time. Reps can also save and reload routes for recurring visit patterns without replanning from scratch. This is especially valuable for pharmaceutical reps, wholesale distributors, and B2B account managers.

9

Can service companies use MyRouteOnline to dispatch technicians?

Absolutely. Service businesses, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, pest control, home healthcare, and property maintenance companies, are some of the most frequent users of MyRouteOnline. Each technician typically has a day full of appointments at different addresses, and the order those appointments are sequenced in directly affects how much drive time is wasted. With MyRouteOnline, a dispatcher can import the day’s job list, assign technicians to territories, and generate optimized routes for each one in minutes. Technicians receive their routes via the MyRoute app on their smartphones and navigate stop to stop. If a job runs long or a new booking comes in, the dispatcher can manually adjust the route and resend. The live tracking feature lets dispatchers monitor where each technician is in their route in real time.

10

Is MyRouteOnline useful for road trips and personal use?

Yes. While MyRouteOnline is primarily built for business use, it is equally useful for personal road trips, errands, and events. Planning a multi-city road trip with 15 stops across three days, for example, is exactly the kind of problem the tool solves well. You can enter all your destinations, choose whether you want the shortest or balanced option, and get back a day-by-day itinerary with driving directions. For personal errands, the same logic applies: if you have seven stops to make, MyRouteOnline will sequence them so you complete the loop in the fewest miles. The free trial lets anyone test it without a credit card.

11

How do trucking companies use MyRouteOnline differently from regular delivery businesses?

Truck drivers face unique routing challenges: low-clearance bridges, weight-restricted roads, hazardous material routing restrictions, hours-of-service regulations, and fuel stop planning across long hauls. MyRouteOnline’s truck routing mode takes these constraints into account, generating routes that are safe and compliant for commercial vehicles rather than defaulting to standard car-navigation paths. Trucking and freight companies use MyRouteOnline to plan multi-drop delivery sequences for long-haul and regional routes, optimizing fuel efficiency and arrival time windows. The ability to handle up to 1,000 addresses per session makes it practical for large distribution operations. Companies with mixed fleets, some truck routes, some van or car routes, can manage all driver types within a single account.

12

How many stops can I plan in a single route?

The stop limit depends on your subscription plan. Classic and Premium plans allow up to 350 stops per route planning session, which covers the needs of most small and medium businesses. The Professional plan supports up to 500 stops per session, and the Business plan supports up to 1,000 stops per session, making it viable for large-scale logistics and distribution operations. It is worth noting that ‘stops’ and ‘address credits’ are different concepts. Credits are consumed when a unique address is first geocoded. Re-planning the same addresses within a 30-day window does not consume additional credits, so businesses with regular recurring routes get significant value from their monthly credit allocation.
